Gov. Sam Brownback has ordered a review of security at Kansas National Guard facilities in the wake of the fatal shootings at Tennessee recruiting sites.
Brownback’s office says in a release the governor has asked Kansas Adjutant General Lee Tafanelli to identify additional steps that could be taken to ensure guard members’ safety.
A gunman opened fire on a military recruiting center and a naval reserve center in Chattanooga last week, killing four U.S. Marines and one U.S. Navy sailor.
The gunman, Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, was killed by police. The shootings are being investigated by the FBI as a terrorist attack.
