Kansas, Missouri men killed in crossover collision

Two people are dead after a pickup truck crossed the median on a northeast Kansas highway and struck a car head-on.

The Highway Patrol says the accident happened about 1:20 a.m. Thursday on Kansas 10 in Johnson County.

Investigators said a westbound pickup driven by 45-year-old Johnnie Royce Jackson, of Kansas City, Mo., crossed the grass median and collided head-on with a Toyota Avalon driven by 20-year-old Robert Zevenbergen of Kansas City, Kan.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The Highway Patrol said Zevenbergen was wearing a seatbelt, but Jackson was not.
