Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback is preparing to have a Statehouse news conference to discuss abortion and education issues.

Brownback’s office said that during Friday afternoon’s event he would address his call for a state medical board investigation into whether tissue from aborted fetuses is being sold commercially in violation of state and federal laws.

The Republican governor acted after anti-abortion activists released two secretly recorded videos of Planned Parenthood officials outside Kansas discussing how they provide fetal tissue for research. State and federal law allow tissue to be donated with a patient’s consent.

Brownback’s office also said he would discuss a State Board of Education decision to allow unlicensed teachers to work in six districts to ease teacher shortages.

He also is expected to face questions about the state budget.
