An intense fire destroys a large amount of hay early Wednesday morning.

According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and rural firefighters were sent to the 1800 Block of West Coronado Heights Road at about 1:30 Wednesday morning. The hay was fully engulfed when they arrived.

The fire destroyed nearly 170 bales of hay. Total loss is estimated at over $25,000.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
