Home Away from Home

The Morrison House is collecting coins in February to help keep accommodations open for families who need a place to stay while loved ones are hospitalized in Salina.

Lisa Hoffman, Manager at the Morrison House joined in on KSAL Morning News Monday with a look at ‘Pennies From the Heart for the Home with the Heart.’

Hoffman told listeners, “It’s a large house, there’s a lot of light bulbs in that house,” she said with a smile.

“There is a lot that has to take place.”

The Morrison House opened in 1993 with improvements made in 2002 and now boasts 14-rooms and thirty three beds.

Cost of operating the facility, which is staffed around the clock is about $165,000 a year.

Hoffman says those who want to donate some change can stop by the Morrison House, located at 513 S. 8th, and enjoy a short tour to learn more about the mission.

“We’re just collecting change and sometimes that little change, those little pennies can make a big difference for us.”
