High Speeds, High Penalties

A Salina man was arrested Saturday night after a flee and elude throughout the city.

Brandon Main, 26 of Salina, was driving a blue 2010 Chevrolet Silverado when an officer observed him driving without a tag on the 700 block of North Broadway.

When the officer began to pursue Main, he took off at nearly 80 mph. When the chase hit 11th Street, the pursuing officer ended his chase and another officer picked him up when the second officer spotted the vehicle parked at a residence on the 1100 block of Park Street.

The officer saw Main running northbound on Park and was able to apprehend him. A body search revealed that Main had methamphetamine and a syringe in his possession. When the vehicle was searched, officers then found that Main had also allegedly stolen items from Bill’s Truck and Auto on 615 Bishop, where he had also stolen the vehicle from.

Among the items stolen was an auto body scanner and a race car scale. The total of the stolen items including the vehicle was $24,000.

Main faces charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to use, theft, burglary, flee and elude and more.
