Salina Police terminated a car chase after reaching speeds of 93-mph on I-135 Tuesday.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that around 11am on Tuesday, an officer on patrol attempted to make a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Osborn for a traffic violation.

Police say the white, 2003 Ford Escape pulled over and a white female stepped out of the car – then jumped back in and the car sped away.

The driver led police to West Crawford Street, over to I-135 and then exited on Water Well Road.

Captain Sweeney says the chase was called off at that point for safety concerns. Police report the driver was a white male and the car has Missouri plate: CG 78S.
