Health Department Repairs On Schedule

Saline County Commissioners were updated Tuesday on the progress of construction on health department facility.

Riley Construction Company is in the process of repairing the Elm Street facility, which because of a structure problem with the roof, closed back in May of 2012.

Problems encountered include issues with original trusses that have been altered, and in some cases are failing. Decades of remodeling and “sometimes poor construction” were noted as contributing factors.

Interim Director Suzette Brotton said “it amazes me how structurally unsound the building was”.

The roof is structurally sound, and other than some minor leak repairs, will remain intact.

Construction remains on schedule, and should be complete in June.
