Family and friends are rallying in support of a Salina man in need of a costly kidney transplant.

Bryon Redden is from the Saline County area. He graduated from Southeast of Saline high school, and up until recently was an EMT for the city of McPherson.

In September 2013, Bryon was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease. His doctors say he needs a kidney transplant to survive, which costs approximately $250,000. After surgery, he will need medical care and expensive anti-rejection medications.

Several fund raising events have been organized to help Bryon.

A chili feed will be held this Saturday. It is from 11-2 at the VFW at 1108 W Crawford in Salina. A meal is $5, and includes a bowl of chili, a drink, and a warm cinnamon roll from Chapman’s Take Away. They will also be selling raffle tickets that day for a fundraiser .

Organizers are hoping to raise enough money to get Bryon to his step in getting a kidney.
