Four people died in an accident along I-70 in Ellsworth County Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at 9:40 a.m. at mile marker 219. A Cadillac Escalade SUV crashed with a semi.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the semi was stopped on the side of the road and had its hazards on and had warning triangles placed behind the trailer.

Troopers say the eastbound SUV drove onto the shoulder and hit the trailer from behind, causing extensive damage and catching on fire.

A small child was pulled from the SUV and transported to a hospital in Salina.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
