UPDATE: Salina Man Killed in Crash

Slick roads caused several crashes in Saline County Monday morning, including one in which a Salina man was killed.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 39-year-old Eduiges Gonzalez-Najera of Salina was killed when he lost control of a pickup truck on Interstate 135, slid across the median, and collided head-on with an oncoming semi. The crash happened about a half mile south of Crawford Street.

Troopers also worked several other injury crashes, where at least a half-dozen people were transported to the hospital. They include:

37-year-old  Carlos Rodriguez – Wichita

28-year-old Ismael Vital – Wichita

19-year-old Branson Truaillo – Wichita

59-year-old Donald Fortin – Topeka

54-year-old Larry Alan McDaneld – Salina

15-year-old Angel K. McDaneld – Salina

The majority of the crashes happened along Interstate 135.

First responders are working multiple crashes in Southern Saline County this morning, and at least one person has been killed. The crashes were mainly along Interstate 135, where sections of road became slick.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at least one of the crashes involved a semi and a pickup truck, another involved a rollover where the occupants were ejected, and another involved three vehicles.

The patrol reports that the crash involving the semi and a pickup truck was a fatal one. The KHP Critical Highway Accident Response Team was activated to respond.
