Fire Destroys Shed, Vehicles

KSAL Staff - April 14, 2016 11:09 am

A couple of antique cars, a pickup truck and a shed were all destroyed by a fire on Wednesday afternoon after a welding torch sparked a blaze at a property located about 2 miles southeast of Salina.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office reports that John Thelander was welding outside on the east side of a storage shed when he noticed a fire.

He told deputies he tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher but the flames moved too quickly.

Early estimates of loss and damage top $10,000.

Rural Fire District #5 was assisted by RFD #2 in fighting the fire which began about 2:15pm at 2727 S. Simpson Road.
