Fire Department Planning 9-11 Ceremony

The Salina Fire Department is planning a September 11th ceremony.

According to the agency, the department’s honor guard will be presenting the colors on September 11th at 7:45 a.m. at Fire Station #1 located at 222 W. Elm Street.

The event schedule is as follows:

• 0745: Honor Guard marches out to flag pole
• 0746: Dispatch tones out a memorial
• 0747: All units at all stations pull onto front pad with emergency lights on for 1 minute
• 0748: Reading of 9-11 timeline by Chief Mullikin
• After reading of timeline – 3 rings, 3 times of the bell on the fox “Last Alarm”
• Honor Guard present arms. 1 minute moment of silence
• Order arms
• Conclude with fireman’s prayer – all Fire Dept. personnel
• Honor Guard marches off
• Dismissal

To keep alive the spirit of compassion and service that united Americans in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, September 11th is now federally recognized as a National Day of Service and Remembrance, establishing a tradition of national engagement in charitable acts as a tribute to the victims, survivors and first responders of 9/11.
