KSAL Staff - February 18, 2016 5:21 pm

One person was killed Thursday when a vehicle they were driving was hit by  a car fleeing a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol the two-vehicle fatality crash happened in Topeka after a brief KHP pursuit. The crash occurred at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Gage Boulevard, which is south of I-70.

At 12:00 p.m. Thursday, a KHP trooper attempted a traffic stop on Gage Boulevard at I-70 on a Chevrolet Impala after observing a traffic violation.

At 12:01 p.m., the driver of the Chevrolet Impala failed to stop, and after a brief pursuit, struck a gray Toyota passenger car traveling westbound on 6th Avenue at the Intersection with Gage Boulevard. A passenger in the gray vehicle was killed, and the driver was transported to a Topeka hospital in critical condition.

There were three occupants in the suspect’s vehicle, the driver and a baby in the back seat were taken to a local hospital to be checked out. A passenger in the suspect vehicle was not injured.

The Kansas Highway Patrol’s Critical Highway Accident Response Team responded to complete a full reconstruction of the crash.

Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor was notified of the incident and responded to the scene.

The idiot had an infant in the backseat and fled from the police, hitting another car and killing someone? He should be hung.
