UPDATE: Murder Suspect Arrested After Chase

Two people were taken into custody following a brief high speed pursuit, and foot chase, that was connected to a Tuesday morning murder in motel parking lot.

First responders were called to the Starlite Motel at at 211E. Pacific at around 6:00 in the morning.

Police told KSAL News at the scene that they found one person fatally shot. The victim was on the ground in the north end of the parking lot, next to an SUV. Police say that several shots had been fired.

The victim is a black male, in this 30s. His name has not been released.

Police were actively looking for the suspected shooter. He was described as a black male, who was last seen wearing a red and black hoodie, and dark pants. He was armed with a .22 calibre gun.

The suspect was considered to be armed and dangerous.

At around 8:30 in the morning there was a high speed pursuit, involving a person who fit the suspect’s description. The chase was headed South on N. Santa Fe, when near the intersection with W. Lincoln, a long train crossing the street altered it. The suspect vehicle, a white full sized pickup truck, veered off the road and headed west driving parallel with the railroad tracks. After several hundred yards it got stuck in a muddy vacant lot. The occupants then bailed out and ran.

Two people were quickly taken into custody. One is the suspect in the murder. Police are investigating to see if the other person is connected to the murder. Neither of their names have been released.

Police say that they are not looking for any other suspects in the case.
