Fatal Scooter Crash Case Headed To Trial

A Salina man pleads not guilty in a case involving an accident that killed a 93-year-old man who was riding a scooter.

Officials tell KSAL News that 50-year-old Dennis Campbell of Salina plead not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges earlier this week in Saline County District Court. Prosecutors allege that Campbell was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the crash happened.

Back in September of last year 93-year-old Eugene Olson was riding a 4-wheel electric scooter, headed north in the 2100 block of Tulane. He was struck from behind by a car driven Campbell.

Olson was transported to Salina Regional Health Center, where he died several days later. Campbell was not hurt in the crash.

A trial was scheduled for early next year.
