Expanded E-Waste Event in May

Ready to pitch it in the trash …wait!

The 6th Annual Electronic Recycling Event is ready for almost anything with a cord or battery.

Household Hazardous Waste Coordinator, Chris Slubowski stopped into the KSAL Morning News on Monday with a preview of next month’s E-Waste extravaganza. “It’s going to bigger and better, and at a new location too,” she said.

Collection of items like old computer monitors, TVs, even appliances will be held on Saturday, May 10th at Salina South High’s parking lot on the west side. The event will run from 9am until 1pm.

Slubowski tells KSAL News that they are using an R2 Certified Contractor, “This company not only specializes in electronics but also appliance recycling,” she said.

“You don’t even have to remove the freon – they are certified for that too.”

Slubowski adds CRT monitors cost $5 a piece to drop off, $15 for CRT televisions (up to 27-inches) $35 for CRT TVs or monitors over 27-inches.

Normal operating hours for the Household Hazardous Waste Facility is Thursdays from 7:30am to 7:30pm and the first Saturday morning of the month from 8am to Noon.
