The USD 305 Board of Education in Salina has called a special meeting to accept the resignation of board member Dr. Phil Black and to begin looking for his replacement.

USD 305 Superintendent Bill Hall joined in on the KSAL Morning News Monday with a look at the process and thank Black for his contribution.

“I do appreciate Dr. Black’s service to the board,” Hall said.

“He noted that there was some job opportunities available for him, he has a new position which made it difficult for him to serve on the board.”

According to Hall the transition plan will begin at the special meeting on Tuesday, “They’ll approve Dr. Black’s resignation and that will trigger publishing in the Salina Journal notification of vacancy and we’ll encourage folks to apply,” he said.

Hall told KSAL listeners those interested in filling the seat can fill out a short questionnaire and then meet with the board at a meeting on February 22nd.

“The board then on March 8th will make a final decision and appoint a person to fill that position.”

The special meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the District Office, 1511 Gypsum.
