Police are investigating a possible inappropriate relationship between a teacher and student at Ellsworth High School.

KWCH in Wichita reports that Police Chief Emil Halfhill identified the teacher as Brent Schneider. The student was not identified.

Halfhill told the TV station that police met with school district officials at 11 a.m. about the investigation.

Investigators have also spoken with the parents of the student involved.

Halfhill says the relationship doesn’t appear sexual at this time. No one has been charged or arrested in the case.

USD327 Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo Superintendent Dale Brungardt says the district accepted Schneider’s resignation Friday morning.

Schneider taught conditioning, and was the football coach.
