Elderly Salina Woman Scammed

An elderly Salina woman has been bilked in a telephone scam.
Police say that a woman in her 70s received a call on March 1st informing her that she had won $900,000.
The woman was told that she needed to pay $400 in taxes to collect her winnings. On April 5th she sent $400 via Western Union.
After sending the $400, the woman was then told that another $100 needed before she could collect the money. She complied again.
After sending money the second time the woman contacted Salina Police. Police determined that the woman had not won any money, but instead had been scammed.
Total loss is $519.98
