Isaiah Veal

He’s in the 12th grade with a 3.3 GPA; son of Christina Barlow. He participates at school on the track & field team as a 2 year letterman and captain and 2 year letterman on the football team. Isaiah enjoys being able to get involved in class conversations and to learn new things each day. His favorite subject is English and he always likes his teachers. He respects all of the staff that helps Central function. He is very close with his family and friends. He wants to play football in college and is unsure of a major.

 

Ethan Truong

He’s in the 11th grade and is the son of Douglas and Phung Truong. In school he participates in quizbowl and the gifted program. Ethan’s enjoys working with the teachers, especially with the social studies teachers. The classes are challenging, but engaging, and the staff is always ready to provide help. He likes to read about history and other cultures, as well as practicing calligraphy in his spare time.

 

Emma Smith

She’s in the 8th grade with a 4.0 GPA; daughter of Dawn Smith and Tom Smith. In school she participates in Orchestra and is a volleyball manager. In the community she was in the Salina Junior Youth Symphony, 2nd chair cellist for the 2015-2016 season and plans to audition again. What she likes most about school is being a part of a team because she knows they all have each other’s backs. Emma plans to go to college after graduating and becoming a psychiatrist.

 

Valeria Martinez

She’s in the 7th grade; daughter of Miguel and SanJuana Martinez. In school she participates in volleyball and orchestra. In the community she is an afterschool tutor at Oakdale Elementary School where she helps 2nd and 5th graders with their homework. What he enjoys most about school is we have different teachers for different subjects. She plans to go to college and become a teacher. She speaks two languages, has sisters, and has a dog named Choco.
