Drowsy Teen Rolls SUV Multiple Times

A drowsy teenage driver was hurt when he rolled an SUV he was driving multiple times in a crash east of Salina.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 16-year-old Ramses Jimenez was driving a 1997 GMC Jimmy, headed North on Simpson Road.

Jimenez fell asleep and the SUV entered the east ditch striking a ditch embankment and a mailbox. He then overcorrected, causing the SUV to roll multiple times. The Jimmy came to rest on the east side of Simpson Road, on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Jimenez, who was buckled up, was hurt. He was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center.

The crash happened at 2:50 in the morning Saturday, on Simpson Road 1.5 miles north of Country Club Road.
