Driver Rear-Ends Two Semis

A man from Ohio was hurt Monday night when he rear-ended two semis, that were stopped in traffic due to another crash, on Interstate 70 near Abilene

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 51-year-old Jay Neal from New Richmond, Ohio, was driving a van headed west in the passing lane. He came upon two semis that were stopped in the road, one in the right lane, the other in the passing lane. Traffic was backed up after a semi in an related crash jack-knifed and spilled a load of I-beams in the road.

The van struck the right rear of the trailer in the passing lane, then the trailer of the other semi as well.

Neal, who was buckled up, was hurt. He was transported by EMS to the hospital in Salina.

The crash happened at 8:08 Monday night on Interstate 70 in Dickinson County, 6 miles east of Abilene.
