Directed Growth

After a year in the making, a survey to pinpoint housing concerns in Salina is set to be released.

Salina Mayor Jon Blanchard stopped into the KSAL Morning News on Monday with a glance at the study that compiles over 1,200 responses from the public to housing needs, “We’ve identified different areas that we wanted them to look at,” he said.

Blanchard added the questionnaire will help direct staff to finding strategies to provide and upgrade housing stock around Salina, especially in the starter homes category.

“Let’s try to boost a sector that has not really seen that type of growth that we need and give that a boost. That’s what the city can do, we can establish policies that can say – this is where we want to direct growth.”

The survey will be unveiled at a public meeting on Thursday, November 19th.
