Deputies Investigating Mailbox Explosion

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case involving a small explosion that destroyed a mailbox.

According to Saline County Undersheriff Roger Soldan, at around 12:25 Sunday afternoon a mailbox in front of a home at 3265 E. Country Club Road exploded.

An explosive device, possibly some sort of firework, caused the explosion. The mailbox exploded into five pieces.

Soldan says that neighbor heard the explosion and looked outside, but did not see anyone.

There were no injuries.

If caught, the person responsible could face charges that include arson.
