Democrat Davis Enters Kan. Governor Race

Democrat Paul Davis is officially entering the 2014 Kansas governor’s race, announcing his plans to challenge Republican Gov. Sam Brownback.

Davis, the House minority leader and Lawrence attorney, announced his plans Tuesday through social media. It is Davis’ first attempt at statewide office.

In an online video announcing his candidacy, Davis says he wants to focus on education, protecting the middle class and rewarding hard work in Kansas. He’s says “It’s time to set things right” in Topeka.

The 41-year-old David announced earlier this summer that he was forming an exploratory committee to consider a campaign. He has been in the Kansas House since 2003.

Former Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is scheduled to appear at a reception for Davis n Thursday in Mission Hills.
