Death Threat

A Salina couple is threatened over the phone by a scammer.

Captain Chris Trocheck tells KSAL News that a woman received a phone call on April 1st from a man who claimed he was with AT&T Windows, and convinced her he needed access to her computer.

She granted access and then got another call on April 3rd.

This time the caller wanted to set up a PayPal account for the woman and send her a check for $2,400 which she could cash and keep $900 for herself. The woman did not want to take part, which prompted another phone call from the bogus company on April 6th.

The woman’s husband answered the phone and after a short exchange – the caller told the man he was going to come their house to, “kill you both.”

The couple then contacted Salina Police.
