Cool, Wet Weather Coming

Cooler, wet weather is on the way.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms will develop as the day progresses on Thursday, dropping heavy rain in some areas. As the main storm system approaches this afternoon and evening, widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to spread. Rainfall may be heavy at times, with totals ranging from a half inch to over three inches by Friday.

In Central Kansas, rainfall through Saturday will range from around 0.75 inches near Russell to around 3.00 inches in extreme southeast Kansas. Minor flooding of the usual flood prone areas is likely tonight in southeast Kansas.

Cooler air arrives on Friday as light showers gradually clear from north to south through the day. The weekend is looking mostly dry with the next system and rain chances entering the central plains Sunday afternoon.
