Combine Lost in Fire

A custom cutter’s combine goes up in flames north of Salina.

Rural Fire District #7 responded to a field in the 1500 block of West K 143, Friday night after a combine was consumed by fire.

According to Captain Roger Soldan with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Arlin Spoo of Topeka told deputies he had finished cutting a wheat field in his 2012 Case International combine when he heard a loud pop – followed by flames.

Spoo speculated that a broken fuel line is to blame for the loss of the machine valued at $400,000.

Their were no injuries.

The incident occurred at about 9:15pm June 20th.
