A mobile mapping project is underway in Salina.

According to the City of Salina, the have contracted with Transmap Corporation from Upper Arlington, Ohio, to perform a pavement condition survey on the City’s asphalt streets.

The data being collected will track the condition of the streets and aid in planning annual maintenance projects.

On Friday Transmap Corporation will be working within the City of Salina to inventory images of the Salina road network. The On-Sight High-Definition Mobile Mapping Vehicle is a van that obtains digital imagery and GPS information of roadways while traveling at posted speed limits. This technology will not interfere with the traveling public or pedestrians.

The work will be completed within 1 week weather permitting.
