Citizen Group Forms To Support School Bond Effort

A group of citizens come together in support of the proposed USD 305 school bonds.

Organizers say that the goal of the “Now is the Time” group is to help Salina citizens better understand the need for school
improvements, and to understand the April 8, 2014, mail-in bond election.

The committee is led by:

Mindi Davidson, First Bank Kansas

Samantha Angell, Achterberg & Angell

Rev Barry Dundas, Trinity United Methodist Church

Abbi Hodges will serve as treasurer for the committee.

In a news release Angell said “Salina USD 305 is facing several challenges in our buildings, which ultimately impacts the quality of education our students receive. We believe the proposed plan to
improve learning environments for our students and staff, while enhancing security, is critical to maintain quality schools in Salina and help retain and recruit businesses. With state aid possibly being eliminated after July 1, 2014, we have to help our tax payers and now is the time to pass this bond issue to make sure we receive the state monies.”
