Cirque Goes Above and Beyond

Salinans will be listening to the Symphony on Saturday night at the Stiefel Theatre – and looking up as aerialist soar overhead.

“Cirque de la Symphonie” is the hybrid of classic music mixed with high flying feats.

“This is not a cheesy circus type show at all, it is very classy and they are very, very highly qualified,” said Adrienne Allen, Executive Director of the Salina Symphony.

“We have Olympians, world record holders and veterans of Cirque du Soleil.”

Allen tells KSAL News that the Symphony led by Maestro Ken Hakoda will be playing a wide variety of music on Saturday, from Bernstein and Tchaikovsky plus some newer selections like Superman by John Williams and Gladiator by Hans Zimmer.

The magical night will highlight acrobats, jugglers, contortionists and strongmen performing as the Salina Symphony fills the Stiefel with wall to wall sound.

Tickets can be purchased at the Stiefel Theatre Box Office, by telephone at 785-827-1998 or on the web at www.ticketmater.com.
