A child who was locked inside of a hot car in a Wichita grocery store parking lot has been released from the hospital.

The girl was released Thursday into the custody of her mother. The Kansas Department of Children as well as the Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit are investigating the Wednesday incident.

Authorities say fire crews responded to a call of a child in a locked vehicle in a grocery store parking lot around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
