Chase Ends With Crash, Arrests

A short chase east of Salina ends with a crash, and two arrests.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, units  were in pursuit of a 1997 Ford Escort.  As the driver, 24-year-old Mathew Leach from Ramona, Kansas, attempted to make a left turn onto Marymount Road, he struck a large wooden fence post and came to rest in the ditch.

Leach and a passenger, 25-year-old John Rudd from Salina, were both transported to Salina Regional Health Center. They were treated, released, and then booked into the Saline County Jail.

Leach could face multiple charges that include fleeing and eluding. Rudd could face multiple drug charges.

The incident happened just after 11:30 Tuesday morning.
