Cash Stolen from Restaurants’ Safes

Police are reviewing surveillance video from two Salina sandwich shops after burglars emptied two safes.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that the Subway Restaurant at 1014 E. Crawford and Subway at 676 Westport Blvd. were both hit by burglars over the same time frame.

Police say both shops were targeted sometime during the overnight hours on Sunday into Monday morning around 6am.

Thieves broke the door glass to enter the Subway on E. Crawford and stole $295 in cash from the safe. Police add the glass on the drive-thru window was shattered at Subway’s Westport location and $360 in cash was stolen.

Investigators say that neither safe was forced open.

Total loss and damage across both burglaries is estimated at $1,605.
