Car Theft and Recovery Covers Salina Area

The car theft bug hit Salina hard over the weekend. Four vehicles were reported missing and then were recovered throughout the city from Thursday night to Saturday morning.

A 1995 silver Jimmy was stolen from the 800 block of West Iron and was found unharmed on the 300 block of South Broadway Saturday morning.

A Dodge van was stolen from ABC Pest Control on Thursday night at 2077 Highland Avenue. The back window was broken out and three Busch Hammer Drills and a B&G Pest Spray Gun were stolen from the vehicles. The total loss and damage on the van is valued at $2,100.

A 2008 Honda Civic was stolen from the 2000 block of Glendale, and was found at Indian Rock Park. The windows were all broken out and the windshield was cracked. The damage estimated to the vehicle is $1,000.

And finally, a green 1999 Chevy Cavalier was recovered on the 700 block of York after being stolen from the 900 block of Riverside. No damage was done to the vehicle. All four vehicles were stolen with the keys inside the vehicle.

Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney warns that people take caution by locking their vehicles and advises that keys should not be left inside.
