Burglar Falls Through Ceiling

An alleged would-be-burglar was arrested after falling through a ceiling early Monday morning inside a Salina business.

Police say that the incident happened at Taco John’s at 303 S. Santa Fe.

After arriving, between 3:20 and 4:20 in the morning, the manager heard noises as if someone were attempting to break into the safe.  Police were called, and officers saw a person inside.

A police dog responded, and as officers were inside searching the building, a man fell through the ceiling.

The man was identified as Nicholas Briggs of Salina, and was arrested.

The police SWAT team responded after Briggs claimed that there was another person inside, and was armed. There turned out to be no one else inside.

Briggs could face charges that include aggravated burglary and attempted theft.
