Brown Baggin’ it For Rescue Mission

Salinans will have an opportunity this Friday and Saturday to shop and serve others at the 16th Annual Dr. Temple Food Drive.

Steve Kmetz, Executive Director of the Salina Rescue Mission tells KSAL News that shoppers will be able to fill a bag and fill a need in caring for men who need a second chance.

“At the Dillons stores we’ll have a shopping list stapled on the brown paper sacks with the items we need,” Kmetz said.

“The cashier will ring it up and place the items back in the brown bag so you can hand it to a volunteer when you exit the store.”

Kmetz says all three Salina Dillons stores are participating in the annual event that began with a big idea from Dr. Temple.

“Brad says I’ve got a crazy idea – can we have a food drive? And God has just empowered us to go out there.”

Shoppers can pitch in and buy a bag on Friday, November 20th from 2pm to 7pm and Saturday, November 21st from 11am to 4pm at Dillons.

Founded in 1981 the Salina Rescue Mission is located at 1716 Summers Road and has space for eight-five men.
