Brookville, Gypsum, Receive Cleanup Grants

The City of Brookville and City of Gypsum both received $2,000 grants from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation Community Clean-Up Fund held at the Greater Salina Community Foundation. Both communities will provide dumpsters for residents to use to clean up personal and public property next spring.  The Gypsum Lions Club and Booster Club have also agreed to help paint the Gypsum Ball field and tennis courts and install new siding on the concession stand.

Over $7,000 is still available in community clean-up grant funds for communities in Saline County.  Applications will be accepted through June 1, 2017, and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

The objectives of the clean-up grants are to beautify communities for current residents and to help with recruitment of new residents; eliminate financial barrier to clean-up projects such as land fill fees and equipment rental; and promote community pride and encourage volunteerism.
