Wilson Lake Drowning Victim Identified

For the second weekend in a row a person has drowned at Wilson Lake.

According to the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday morning a bass fisherman at Wilson Lake contacted Russell County 911 about a body floating in the water off the Wilson Dam. Officers from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Wildlife, Parks and Tourism along with US Army Corps of Engineers responded. They located the body floating face down in the water along the face of the dam.

According to KRSL Radio in Russell, Undersheriff Max Barrett Monday identified the drowning victim a Richard G. Roach of Ellsworth. The cause of death was determined to be drowning. Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in the incident.
