BMW Scam

An elderly Salina woman falls victim to a telephone scam.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that late last month, a woman in her 80’s was told by a man on the phone that she had won a new BMW automobile through the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.

A couple of different people then convinced the woman to pay over $2,100 in so-called delivery charges before she realized she had been cheated and contacted police on October 1st.
