The City of Lindsborg is forgiving Bethany College of its debt.

Bethany College owed more than $100,000 to the city of Lindsborg. Because of that and other financial issues, the college was put on probation last summer by the Higher Learning Commission.

Lindsborg city officials tell KWCH that they decided to forgive the school’s debt because of concerns of what the community could become if Bethany College ceased to exist. Officials stressed that Bethany College was current on their debt to the city, but local leaders knew the school’s financial books would look better with less debt.
