An axe-wielding suspect is under arrest in Emporia.

David E. Rutledge allegedly sent threatening messages and then showed up at the victim’s home on with an axe on Monday night.

Police say they spotted Rutledge driving, and began to chase him. During the chase, Rutledge returned to the victim’s home and threw the axe from his vehicle before surrendering.

Rutledge was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
