Animal Cruelty Case Closed

An animal cruelty case involving Mulvane High School students is now closed.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating allegations that students had built a bonfire near El Dorado Lake in March and had thrown chickens into the blaze. Authorities believe that video exists of the alleged event, but they say that the investigation was closed because of a lack of cooperation from students and their parents.

Another case where students allegedly ran over and killed a baby chicken in the Mulvane High School parking lot earlier this year remains open.
