A Strong Foundation

The community had a chance to meet and greet a man who will be making a big difference in Salina. The Greater Salina Community Foundation hosted an open house Thursday evening for new President and Executive Director Bill Grevas.

Grevas brings over twenty years of non-profit and development experience, thirteen of those working with the Kansas State University Foundation. He most recently served as the Vice-President for Institutional Advancement at Kansas Wesleyan University. His duties at Kansas Wesleyan also involved being the administrator for the KWU Foundation.

Grevas takes over for Besty Wearing, who was the organization’s first executive director. Wearing held the position for the next 15 years, before stepping down this past April.

Grevas is taking over the Greater Salina Community Foundation as the organization is coming off a couple of exciting years. In 2014 its assets topped $150 million dollars. In 2015, it awarding of a total of $50 million in grants and scholarships since its inception in 1999.  Both milestones place GSCF at the top when compared to community foundations in Kansas.

The Greater Salina Community Foundation is the largest community foundation in the State of Kansas, having just over $150 million in assets. It serves the greater Salina community, including 12 affiliate community foundations.
