Accusations and an argument leads to a damaged vehicle.

Salina Police issued a Notice to Appear citation to 32-year-old Justin Zimmerman of Salina after he allegedly hit a car with a brick.

Officers were called to the 2000 block of Queens Road on Thursday evening at 8:20pm, after Zimmerman confronted a neighbor who was driving by.

Police say 18-year-old Landon Smutz was driving in his 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, when Zimmerman approached the car and accused Smutz of harassing him by ringing his door bell and running off.

Zimmerman then allegedly hit the car with a brick. When Smutz drove back around, he threw the brick again.

Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $900.

The “hill” is a myth. The Zimmermans are a military family, enlisted, and live very modestly. He wasn’t arrested because the driver of one if 3 cars had swerved at Mr. Zimmerman’s wife a few minutes before. A year of periodic harassment late at night finally boiled over. If I had four young kids trying to sleep and someone kept waking them up, I would be very upset too. Combine that with someone swerving at my wife as she stood on the sidewalk, and I would be livid. It is a shame a good man was cited for responding to harassment that the SPD couldn’t do anything about, even after complaints had been filed. The system is flawed.
