Deputies, Wardens Investigating Bird Crime

Saline County Sheriff Deputies, along with Game Wardens from the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism are investigating a case involving animals being illegally killed.

According to Saline County Sheriff Captain Roger Soldan, deputies on Friday responded to a report of a large number of dead geese in the 4500 Block of Humbarger Road. They discovered 36 white geese that had been shot, and thrown into a culvert.

Soldan says that it is being investigated as a wildlife crime, a violation of the Kansas wanton waste law.
