3 Charged after Stop

A speeding ticket leads to three arrests.

According to Captain Mike Sweeney, a traffic officer on Tuesday clocked a vehicle going 31-mph in a 20-mph school zone near Heusner Elementary just before noon.

Police say as the car pulled over a passenger jumped out and ran. Dustin Tyler, 30 of Carlton, KS was found a short time later hiding in a bush and arrested on outstanding warrants.

Police say he’s also facing additional charges for criminal possession of a weapon after officers found a .38 caliber revolver that belonged to Tyler.

Another passenger, 28-year-old John Clark of Salina was arrested on multiple drug charges for possession and intent to sell over 18-grams of meth and 3.2 grams of marijuana.

Police say the illegal drugs were kept in a breath mints tin that slid down his pant leg.

Police also charged 33-year-old Shannon Schultz with speeding and possession of a hallucinogenic drug.
