2nd Suspect in YouTube Video Arrested

Police make a second arrest in connection to a scuffle outside a Salina bar that landed on YouTube.

On Thursday, Police arrested 18-year-old Jerry A. Vest of Salina for battery of a law enforcement officer and obstruction.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, Vest was arrested on a probation violation and had the two other charges added to his record.

Last Friday Salina Police responded to the Speakeasy Bar and Grill, 2030 S. Ohio, to the report of a fight that had spilled into the patio area of the bar. Several patrons were asked by management to leave the bar and the area near the front door.

Police arrested 22-year-old Mitchell Vest of Salina for disorderly conduct and failure to comply with officers. Video then shows a man, police believe to be Jerry Vest, forced to the ground by another police officer.

Interim Chief of Police Carson Mansfield held a media conference earlier in the week to break down the video, and said the officer made a decision in a split second, “I don’t know what he could of done differently,” he said.

“The officer threw the subject to the ground and then assumed a guard position to make certain no other individual from the group would jump on the back of the arresting officer.”
