$13.1 Million Bi-Center Project Begins

Officials celebrated the beginning of a major renovation of the Salina Bicentennial Center with a ground breaking event at the venue Thursday morning.

Salina Mayor Aaron Housholter spoke, as did Bi-Center General Manager Ron Rideout, and John Frew the president of Frew Development Group, the company doing the renovation.

Frew said that he has worked on many similar projects, renovating aging buildings that were built in the 1970s, like the one in Salina. He said “all of the planning, angst, and what ifs are behind us. Today is a day of celebration.” Frew added that as compared to similar renovations, the Salina project is already ahead of the curve, with the city, the contractor, and venue working closely together.

Highlights of the $13.1 million renovation include major roof work, a kitchen remodel, parking lot renovations, an Ohio Street entrance, along with numerous other upgrades and improvements throughout the facility.
